Dancing Plates
You will find them all over the islands, bright circles hidden in the folds of cliff paths. They are everywhere in the Caprin cities and now they even appear in Setanta, invariably drilled into the sidewalk seams at a crossroads. They are made of brass and go two or three feet into the ground.

A Caprin lady's filed and caulked claws will stick with a formidable suction to a polished plate, allowing her to perform lengthy dances on one leg.

On Caprin holidays there can be lines of saffron-veiled dancers waiting for a turn on a particular plate. Even on ordinary days, many Caprin ladies are moved to jump through a few steps when they pass a plate.

Caprin gentlemen tend to try to step over or around the dancing plates.
