Spriggans
The spriggans live in the south west part of the world, west of Lenya and south of Immrama. They are a hard shelled insectoid race, with lammellate antennae, 6 limbs and 6 eyes. They live mostly underground in tunnels that may house small families or huge colonies. The details of their social structure is as yet unknown. The spriggan territory is rolling plains and deserts, empty, baking and barren.
Every spring hordes of insectoid vermin migrate to the Bitten mountains to the north to lay eggs. Beleaguered by Lenyans on one side and the Immramine on the other, the adult spriggans have been convinced to travel a fairly narrow swath to the mountain. However, in the fall newly hatched spriggans descend from the mountains in all directions. Some enter the Seelie territory and are caught and killed by the Seelie Redcaps.
The Lenyans and the Immramine traditionally have not tolerated encroaching Spriggans, because of legends that they bring bad luck and misfortune to the land. Indeed, all areas used by the spriggans seem inhospitable. The Spriggan plains and mountain ranges and even the route that connects them, will not grow plants that will nourish; there the water there tastes unclean. Where spriggans die it is as if they sow the land with salt. Spriggan corpses must be removed from the land, laborious and disgusting work.
