Griots
Keepers of the word. (ti Sedat)
(See also Sirens, Harpies)

Griots are a distinct subfamily of the sirens, found in northern Sedat. They are semi-nocturnal predatory birds with faces like people. The Sedat people believe them to be sentient and may possibly even worship them.

Some Sedat reportedly even claim to be related to them.

Sirens, Harpies
The sirens (or harpies) are sea-going birds with the faces of people. They rarely come to the mainland shores, preferring instead the solitude of the islands. They are known for their foul eating habits and pleasant singing.
