Dragon

There are no more dragons in the world, but the stories about them persist.

A great dragon, miles long, flew over the country. Its wings shut out the sun and sky. It glided down to the ground, uncurled the length of its neck across the land and dropped its nose in the sea. Great gouts of hot lead and molten gold spurted out of its left side and melted into the ground. Its limbs became foothills; its spiky backbone became a mountain range embracing the country.
