The wind is chill and
my shoes are soaked through,
but I'm out here
for the long haul.
Yeah, I was going to
take this trip anyway.

I had to go,
and I truly didn't mind,
leaning into that hard rain,
being alone in that silence.

I wasn't waiting.

Really!

But since we are both,
going in the same direction,
would you care to share

an umbrella?

Last week, as I was walking past Crane's pond, I came upon some people. They were holding a bit of a fishing tournament- biggest fish to win a small purse. Now I love fishing and could not resist this even though I didn't have my gear with me and Crane's Pond isn't much; stocked but heavily fished. I cut a pole anyway and bought a line. No one would sell me any bait - no surprise there. The bank was hard and bare of insects, so just for jollies I picked a little mushroom and baited my hook with that. Well I got a bite right quick, yanked it out, it was a honking huge eel! Nothing like the troutfry my neighbors were throwing back. I didn't get any more bites the rest of the afternoon, but I won with that eel. Very long fish, eels are, you know. Moral of this story: Eels love mushrooms. Who knew!? Sorry, that's all I got.
